Mites are found almost everywhere. There are many types of mites, most of which are harmless, living on dead or decaying organic matter. However, some infest foods in storage (flour, grain, dried fruits) and damage them. Others can trigger allergies. They must be reliably excluded from all food manufacturing and processing.
