pressure cascade

In the white area, there is a slightly higher air pressure than in the gray area where there is a higher pressure than the surroundings. This forms a "pressure cascade" which ensures that the air flows only outwards and limits the entry of contamination from into the clean rooms.
Exception: In pharmaceutical operations which work with cytostatic drugs or in virus research, the pressure cascade is reversed to prevent the release of harmful substances.
