In the clean room, only ballpoints or felt-tip pens are used to minimize particle emmission. Special clean-room notepads and paper are designed to have a low level of particle emission and to be tear resistant. For sterile cleanrooms, writing materials must also be sterile i.e. either sterilizable or disposable.
